Designing a STEAM Project

Submission

For this activity, I considered what a real issue is in my school environment and how I can address it. After a lot of consideration, I decided on animal care. For context, the local education department requires class pets during the course of the curriculum; this is normally done by students bringing in turtles, fish or tadpoles. Unfortunately, these get mistreated, ignored and frequently left uncared for. I'm sure you can guess what happens to those pets...

This school year, I decided to actively work on this issue by introducing a structured approach to the class pet. To make this a more practical plan, I applied the core theme of social-emotional learning and the STEAM application to build a semester-long activity set.

Although it's only theory, I am very happy with the result and look forward to getting input to improve this further.

Following provided feedback, I added more detail to the assessment portion of the activity. In addition, I modified the assessment segment to be more specific and added examples of the assessment form templates.
